Scholarships Description: Applicants must:
•Be high school seniors or high school graduates who are first-time college students in the fall of 2011
•Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire 2011-12 academic year
•Plan to major in a course of study that focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math). Select Design, Marketing, Accounting, Finance and Business majors are also eligible. See the list of eligible majors. Scholarship recipients will demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in the automotive or related industries using these areas of study.
•Be U.S. citizens and have permanent residence in the United States
Excluded from consideration are employees and relatives of employees of Scholarship Management Services, Scholarship America and their affiliates and subcontractors, and GM Foundation Directors, Officers, and staff and their relatives. Relatives of General Motors employees are eligible.
Award Criteria:Scholarship recipients are selected based on the following factors:
•Academic achievement,
•Financial need,
•Participation and leadership in community and school activities, work experience, educational and career goals, and unusual circumstances, and
•Please note special consideration will be given to the following applicants: first-generation college, female, minority, military veteran or a dependent of military personnel.
The majority of the scholarships will be awarded to students majoring in STEM fields, with a heavy emphasis on Engineering majors.Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship Management Services. All scholarship recipients may be subject to a criminal background check.

Study 2011 E. C. Hallbeck International Scholarships Program for the Child of the Member of the American Postal Workers Union

Scholarships Description: The E.C. Hallbeck Memorial Scholarship awards $8000 ($2000 annually) to ten recipients (one male and one female from each of the five postal regions) to apply towards their four-year college tuition.
When the five predecessor unions merged to form the APWU in 1971, the new union decided to maintain an academic scholarship program created in 1969 by the United Federation of Postal Clerks (UFPC) as a tribute to UFPC president E.C. “Roy” Hallbeck. Today the APWU Hallbeck Memorial Scholarships program is a self-perpetuating financial base for providing significant educational assistance to children of APWU union members. It awards $2,000 per year for four consecutive years of college to one male and one female from each of the five postal regions.

Scholarships Job Description: Vocational Scholarship winners receive up to $3,000 ($1000 annually) for specialized training in such fields as culinary arts, medical or dental assistant, electrician, real estate, auto mechanic, certified IT/computer education, cosmetology, or massage therapy, etc. Eligible programs can be of a nine-month to three-year duration.
The APWU National Executive Board established the Vocational Scholarships to help students interested in programs of study leading to trade, technical, industrial or vocational occupations that can include: Culinary, Medical or Dental Assistant, Electrician, Real Estate, Auto Mechanic, Certified I/T?Computer Education, Massage Therapy or Cosmetology. Five recipients from among the five postal regions will receive $1,000 per year for up to three consecutive years of school.
